Description
3M Microfinishing Film Sheet 362L is a fast-cutting abrasive made with aluminum oxide mineral and a polyester film backing.Made for Microfinishing
Combining the strength of the polyester film backing with the aggressive cutting qualities of micron-graded aluminum oxide mineral, 3M™ Microfinishing Film Sheet 362L is a good match for workpieces that require precise, uniform, close-tolerance finishes. From turbine engines to metal implants, or from builders’ hardware or medical instruments, industrial professionals value part integrity. Microfinishing is one application that is very consistent and predictable; it can remove damaged or amorphous layers to improve the surface finish and roundness of the part.
3M™ Microfinishing Film 362L is good for microfinishing as it comes in a wide range of grades, so operators can choose the right grade for their part. The grades are also color coded to help operators reduce the risk for error when there are multiple grades in a sequence. It may be used on a variety of substrates, including clear coats, gelcoats, soft and hard composites, metals, softwoods and hardwoods, primer, fiberglass, sealers, paint, solid surfaces and particle board.
Balancing Strength with Flexibility
The high-strength polyester film backing on 3M™ Microfinishing Film Sheet 362L serves as a uniform base for extremely fine mineral grains, helping keep a consistent, uniform thickness for high precision work. The film is made with micron-graded aluminum oxide mineral, a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its cut-rate and long life. This mineral is tough and self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges in use. Due to its high cut-rate, hardness, strength and low heat retention, aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in sanding and finishing.
Available in a sheet form, the film may be cut to match the dimensions of a backup pad or hand pad. This flexibility enables operators to reap the benefits of a microfinishing film and still tackle tough areas that might be inaccessible to other tools and machines.
